Trends we expect to see in 2025 in Western Canada!

Welcome to 2025! With a new year comes fresh design opportunities, and at BrassTacks Design Source, we’re here to inspire and support your journey to create spaces that make a lasting impact.

This year, Western Canada’s interior design scene is buzzing with exciting trends—each blending creativity, functionality, and sustainability.

Let’s dive into what’s shaping the way we design public, commercial and hospitality spaces and how BrassTacks can help bring these ideas to life:

Sustainability: Design with Conscious

Sustainability isn’t just a trend—it’s the foundation of modern design. In Western Canada, designers are embracing materials and practices that are as kind to the planet as they are visually stunning. Think furniture made from paper and a biogenic binder (Catifa Carta below), reclaimed wood, textiles crafted from recycled fibers, and low-VOC finishes that improve air quality. At BrassTacks, we’ve carefully curated a range of sustainable products that make it easier than ever to design spaces with a purpose.

The Tambour Effect:

With its sleek slat-like design reminiscent of vintage roll-top desks, this iconic design detail is making a significant comeback in modern interiors. This versatile design feature is not just aesthetically pleasing; it’s also functional, adaptable, and deeply rooted in the current push for sustainability and texture-rich spaces. Whether you are looking to integrate this style into a private office as a classic statement such as the Nienkamper Tambour cased goods. However, the design detail can be found on products from our other collections, too! Punt Mobles uses this detail on numerous storage lounge and occasional table products, or create a bold version of the trend with color as seen in the Hush Acoustic Palisade Panels, or with their laminated ribbed panels for wall or ceiling, (you can customize the thickness and finishes!), we are excited to see this trend come to life in Western Canada, and expect to see more of this in 2025.

Biophilic Design: A Natural Connection

The breathtaking landscapes of Western Canada continue to inspire biophilic design—an approach that incorporates natural elements into interior spaces. From plant-inspired textures to organic shapes, this trend creates environments that feel alive and welcoming. Imagine a hotel lobby with acoustic wall panels designed to mimic the look of lush greenery. From moss design with our Pixel product, to integrating a plant motif on a custom printed textile or acoustic panel, to numerous planters from various manufacturers, and our famous Leaf Lamp Trees and pendants, we have Biophilia covered! At BrassTacks, we’re passionate about helping you infuse nature into your projects in fresh, functional ways.

 Flexible Spaces: Adapting to Change

Hybrid work schedules, evolving hospitality needs, and dynamic lifestyles call for spaces that do more. Modular furniture and adaptable layouts are leading the charge, offering the flexibility to reconfigure spaces without compromising style. Flexible spaces doesn't just mean modular sofas, though! With our suite of private phone booths, the Neuro Activation Pod for wellness, and fully plug and play touch down spaces, you know your investment will support your team - however they want to work.

Whether you’re creating a multi-purpose lounge or an agile office, BrassTacks has solutions that grow and change with your clients’ needs.

Acoustic Design: The Quiet Game-Changer

In busy commercial and hospitality spaces, noise control is more important than ever. This year, acoustic solutions are stepping up their design game—offering beautiful panels, partitions, and furniture that blend sound absorption with artistic appeal.

Although most think of acoustic solutions as a static item (screen, baffle, tile etc) we can bring even more functionality to how a space sounds and looks. A great example of that is with Arper's Parentesit collection. Parentesit (first image below) is a wall mounted panel system can even be accessorised with an integrated lighting and acoustic system, whose light intensity and audio playback are easily managed via a dedicated app!

BrassTacks is proud to offer products that turn functional acoustics into striking design elements, perfect for open offices, cozy private spaces, invigorating and active collaboration areas, and beyond.

Textiles: Layers That Speak

Textiles are having a major moment in 2025, bringing bold patterns, rich textures, and sustainable innovation to the forefront. In Western Canada, designers are embracing fabrics that make a statement (and with the most sustainable textile manufacturer in the world , btw!)—whether it’s a dramatic custom drapery or intricate upholstery that invites you to touch.

We are also excited at the opportunities for our clients to design their own custom fabrics. Our studio at Camira will work with you to create custom collections for upholstery, drapery, accessories, wall art and murals. From design to sampling, to production, it’s a straightforward process and our experts in print and weave, supporting you every step of the way.

Conclusion

This year is all about designing spaces that are thoughtful, functional, and beautiful. At BrassTacks Design Source, we’re thrilled to be your partner in staying ahead of the trends while delivering solutions that elevate your projects. From sustainable materials to cutting-edge acoustics, we’re here to help you shape 2025 with confidence and creativity.

Let’s get to work on your next masterpiece—together.
